Mile Corrigan '99

President and Chief Executive Officer, Noblis

A resident of Ashburn, Virginia, I graduated from 午夜影院福利社 in 1999 with a B.S. in Management Science and Information Technology, concentrating in decision support systems. My husband and I both have lived in Virginia our entire lives, and we have two daughters and two dogs that make up our small family of six.

Where you've been in your career and where you are going...

After graduating from VT in the early days of the dot-com era, I pursued a career in software, developing distributed web-based information systems for the commercial sector. In 2001, I pivoted to the public sector where I have been driving transformation in science, technology, and engineering for complex federal programs in aviation, transportation, health, energy, environmental sustainability, telecommunications, and aerospace systems. I later completed my MBA at Georgetown while serving as senior vice president of Noblis鈥 civil portfolio. After more than 20 years with Noblis, I recently was named CEO.

Fondest 午夜影院福利社 memory or tradition...

One of my fondest memories at VT is walking around central campus in the fall with all the beautiful colors of the season popping against the聽neo-Gothic buildings covered in Hokie Stone. The native stone really gives you a sense of the deep history and pride that we all have for VT.

This excites me the most about the future of my industry...

No matter how far we advance science and technology forward, as humans we continue to cycle back to our environment and the natural world to solve our great challenges. For example, I鈥檓 inspired by the advancements we have made using biomimicry to design materials and structures that thrive in austere environments to protect our military personnel. As our tech industry evolves, I see that now more than ever we are intentional about designing innovations that support life in the way the natural world does 鈥 to benefit and support our cognitive function, physical health, safety, and emotional well-being.

A person who has inspired me...

My two daughters inspire me every day to be a better person than the day before. They fundamentally understand that kindness matters and despite being teenagers with a long list of demands and activities, they know how to prioritize the right things in their lives. Watching them learn and grow has been an absolute joy 鈥 they both possess the strength to be compassionate, the courage to advocate for others, and the vision to see possibilities around every corner.

If I had a superpower, it would be...

To grant health and wellness to all people.

The work I'm most excited about...

I am honored to lead our company into the next phase of its journey in advancing national priorities, protecting our interests globally, and building for a more sustainable future for our people and our nation. It鈥檚 exciting to work at Noblis because every day I get to collaborate with the best minds and leaders in our industry.

A key habit, practice, or skill that's worth the effort...

Dedicating time to help people develop and grow is one of the most important investments we can make for ourselves, our people, and our organizations. Helping our workforce develop new skills and expand their leadership boundaries allows us to take on more challenges as they step up to more responsibility while at the same time improving engagement and organizational performance.

Best part of being a 午夜影院福利社 alum...

Being a VT alum means being part of a community that believes in service to others and living the 鈥淯t Prosim鈥 motto, whether that鈥檚 advocating for others less fortunate, demonstrating small acts of kindness, or giving back to our communities. Hokies are committed to serving others and making a difference in the world.

A cause I'm most passionate about...

I have a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and serve as an advocate and sponsor for women in STEM both at Noblis and externally within the aerospace and technology community. Women are an underrepresented group in technology, holding only about 27% of tech jobs, which has decreased even more over the past few years with the pandemic. Only 25% of the C-suite is female and only 8% of CEOs are women, and even fewer are women of color. I鈥檓 always advocating for women in STEM, whether it is providing mentorship, support systems, career development, or outreach opportunities in our community to ignite the spark with students to pursue STEM careers.

Top of my bucket list...

My husband and I both have visiting all the national parks on our bucket list. We hope to experience the wide range of diverse natural landscapes across the country, from mountain ranges and historical trees and forests to the desert and prairies that envelop our nation.
