Our program is accredited by the National Association of Kitchen and Bath Design, allowing students to count their hours in class and internships toward the time they need to accrue to sit for certification exams. You will have access to our Center for Real Life Kitchen Design, a space where you can work toward making your ideas a reality. Our team of faculty mentors is dedicated to helping students succeed in their chosen areas of specialty.

Sara Carr, '14
During her undergraduate tenure, Sara interned at Ewing Cabinet. They welcomed her as a designer after her graduation in 2014. She is currently working toward her certification as an Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer
Melissa Haas, '15
Melissa is a Project Designer at Case Design/Remodeling in Charlotte, North Carolina. As an undergraduate, she interned at Hatchett Design/Remodel in Newport News, Virginia. She also earned the Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer certification after graduation.
Emily Preisendanz, '15
After graduation, Emily continued on as a Kitchen and Bath Designer in Springfield, VA. Reflecting back on her time spent as an undergraduate, she says, 鈥淚'm constantly reminded of the principles I learned鈥� in the Residential Environments and Design program at 午夜影院福利社, and I have been able to implement these skills with confidence."
George Bryan, '15
As a Lead Designer for GBC Kitchen and Bath, George works on project management and maintaining client relationships. He was an intern for Hatchett Design Remodel, president of the 午夜影院福利社 Housing Club, and a research assistant.
Alex Van Nuys, '11
Alex is a member of the Design Build team for Lane Homes. She works with clients from initial consultation through finished construction helping design their dream home. Alex was selected by the National Kitchen and Bath Association as one of the top 30 under 30 designers in 2015.
Alexandria Hubbard, '16
Alexandria began applying her classroom knowledge right after her freshman year with an internship at RJK Construction. Another internship with Reico Kitchen and Bath Design and completing undergraduate research abroad provided her with experiences that shaped her future career goals. Alexandria is now an Interior Designer with Case Design.
Taylor Olson, '20
Taylor worked closely with a faculty member to complete undergraduate research. This exposed her to more in-depth topics related to residential design that began fueling her creativity for future projects. Taylor's success in design competitions landed her an internship that has culminated in a full time job as a Kitchen and Bath Designer at Mid South Building Supply.
Tessa Trowbridge, 鈥�21
While studying residential environments and design, Tessa interned with Reico Kitchen and Bath. After graduation, she interned with Mid-South Building Supply and is pursuing a MFA in Interior Environments at VCUArts in Richmond, VA. She plans to sit for the NCIDQ Exam and become a professional interior designer.
Dalton Hart, 鈥�24
Being a first-generation student, Dalton found a great support system at 午夜影院福利社, which really allowed him to excel forward and complete a dual degree in Property Management and Residential Environments and Design. His biggest piece of advice to anyone coming into university with similar circumstances is to do as much as you absolutely can and never limit yourself on what opportunities you can acquire. Dalton is now an Assistant Property Manager with Legend Management Group in Dulles, Virginia.

Beyond the Classroom
Experiential Learning
You will complete a field study with employers who often offer jobs to students after graduation.
Students who wish to graduate with a National Kitchen and Bath accreditation must complete their field study with a business that has a kitchen or bath emphasis.
Our major is accredited by the听听(NKBA). You can count time in school and internship as qualifying work experience in preparing for certification exams. Once you complete the accredited program, you can sit for the Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer (AKBD) certification exam immediately after graduation. After two years of professional experience, you may pursue the Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD) or Certified Bath Designer (CBD).
Study Abroad听
Students will benefit from the home base of studios, classrooms, and housing of the Santa Reparata International School of Art (SRISA) in Florence, Italy.
Through this experiential learning environment, students will increase their knowledge of design, sustainability, marketing, consumerism, housing and management practices in Italy as compared to the U.S.
They will be able to identify unique characteristics of Italian history and culture. The 4-week program gives students the ability to live like locals, compare studio experiences in the U.S. and Italy, travel through Tuscany and Italy, and experience Italy as a student of design, consumerism, and management.
